I tend to think that either they learn strategies to deal with it and it is managed rather than cured or it was misdiagnosed and was something other than Autism to begin with.

With my kids who have SPD, particularly my older one, it has to do with him learning strategies to deal with the sensory issues. He has never outgrown them. Personally, that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.
And he still has sensory issues that sometimes overwhelm him. The difference is now he understands that he’s overwhelmed and tries to communicate that to me before he has an utter meltdown.
