DIY Shaving Cream

It’s supposed to be a beautiful weekend in our neck of the woods. Perhaps a little shaving cream fun in the sun as a sensory outlet for tactile defensiveness.

  1. As an adult with Sensory Processing Dysfunction I would be ill in a very short time with the chemical laden products shown in this picture. Many shampoos have a form of PHTHALATES in them. These chemicals are endocrine disruptors, especially feminizing the male reproductive system.

Their chemical fragrance smell alone would make me want to hold my breath and send me into “fight or flight”.

Can you make what you need to make with non-toxic, unscented or food grade scented product? Would real grapefruit oil scented dishsoap work?

    • Great observation about the scent. If you try the making the shaving cream with the different products, let us know how it turns out.

      • I am the one with SPD and I am 55, so, I probably won’t be making stuff to play with. My tactile issues are very manageable anyway. But oooooooooooh, those chemicals are not!

The guys who need to shave around me can get away with Tom’s of Maine Lavender or Citrus soap, or well rinsed Barbasol in the red, white and blue can. I think it is original scent. Sometimes Dollar Tree has it.
